چکیده

Central nervous system diseases are neurological disorders that affect the structure or function of brain and spinal cord make up central system. In this study, it was aimed to examine impaired/altered metabolomic profiles pregnant women carrying fetuses with abnormalities (NSA). The study group consisted 30 normal pregnancies (control group) 8 having NSA (study group), as determined by prenatal screening diagnosis part an antenatal care program. Metabolomic analyses were carried out using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). GC-MS-based metabolomics analysis able identify 95 metabolites 27 them statistically significant between two groups (p<0.05). Moreover, pathway analysis, performed significantly altered metabolites, showed alteration in alanine, aspartate, glutamate metabolism, citrate cycle, aminoacyl t-RNA biosynthesis, glutathione metabolism. Alanine, aspartate metabolism seem be critical NSAs. However, abnormality-specific studies necessary for further recommendations.

Conventional Chromosome Analysis of Fetuses with Central Nervous System Anomalies and Associated Anomalies: Is Anything Changed?

Central nervous system (CNS) abnormalities are often isolated but can accompany various genetic syndromes. In this study, we evaluated conventional karyotype results and associated findings of fetuses that were diagnosed with CNS abnormalities. Cases included in the study were diagnosed with fetal CNS anomalies and underwent conventional karyotyping. Conventional karyotype results of subjects w...

Thyroid function in fetuses with chromosomal abnormalities.

During treatment with inhaled beclomethasone the osteocalcin concentrations decreased, as has been observed in patients taking oral corticosteroids. This might imply that during beclomethasone treatment bone formation is depressed, which could result in osteoporosis in the long run. In our pilot study we investigated healthy subjects who used a high dose of beclomethasone for a short period of ...
